Dentures and Partials

What are Dentures and Partials?

A denture as well as a partial can help to replace missing teeth in the mouth. When you are missing a great deal of teeth but still have many healthy ones, we will recommend a partial denture. For patients with advanced gum disease or who are missing all of their teeth, we’ll suggest a full denture. Dentures are made to fit comfortably and can last for many years.

Why are Dentures and Partials needed?

When you are missing a large majority of your teeth, you will notice that you are unable to eat, chew and talk the way that you’re used to. Your face may begin to even look sunken-in because of the lack of dentition within the mouth. Rather than deal with a diminished quality of life, a denture can be placed to restore your smile to its original beauty. Dentures are made to look natural, so no one will even know you’re wearing one.

Who is a good candidate for Dentures and Partials?

Dr. Ally will examine your teeth to determine if you might need a denture. The denture itself is made for each individual patient so that it looks as realistic and natural as possible. If you have gum disease, we may recommend having remaining teeth removed before a denture is made. The denture process is done easily in our office in a matter of two to three visits.

What happens during the procedure for Dentures and Partials?

The first visit into our office involves impressions, or molds, taken of the mouth and gums. The impressions are used to carefully create a detailed denture that you’ll be wearing. You will come in once the denture is made for a fitting. The fitting ensures that the denture is comfortable and that it sits properly. Adjustments are often needed to get the fit right before you leave the office. You may need a third adjustment to the denture if it is uncomfortable or ill-fitting in any way. The procedure is easy, quick and provides you with a full and healthy-looking smile.

If you want to come into the office for a consultation for either a full or partial denture, call us today so that we can get you in for an appointment.
