Sleep Apnea Treatment

What is Sleep Apnea Treatment?

Sleep apnea is a serious sleep-related disorder that can affect every aspect of your waking life. The disorder is marked by short pauses in your breathing due to an obstruction of the upper airway. This is known as obstructive sleep apnea, and it can be treated easily by wearing a simple dental device each night. This dental device is made to fit your mouth perfectly so that it is comfortable and easy to wear.

If you continually forgo treatment for sleep apnea, this can have a major impact on the way you are able to function throughout the day. Patients who suffer from sleep apnea may find that they are too exhausted to function at work or to spend time with their families. Who is a good candidate for Sleep Apnea Treatment?

Most patients who have mild to moderate sleep apnea can benefit from the treatment we have available in our office. In fact, many patients who are unable or unwilling to wear a CPAP mask may find the oral device more comfortable to wear each night. What’s more, this dental device is just as effective as wearing a CPAP machine. This allows you to breathe easier at night and have a more restful night of sleep.

What happens during Sleep Apnea Treatment?

Treatment for sleep apnea will typically start with a consultation. We will review your medical and health history to ensure that a dental device is enough to treat your sleep apnea problem. We will then take impressions of your mouth and teeth to use to create the brand new device. You will come in at a later time to have the device fitted. We will make any adjustments as needed, and you will be instructed on how to wear the device while you’re at home. In order for the device to work effectively, it needs to be worn each night and put in before going to bed.
